GUEST SPEAKER AT GENERAL MEETING
At the May 20, 2025 general meeting, we were fortunate to have a speaker Mr. Christopher Chukwanta, who spoke to us, about the growing concern of climate change in Africa. Mr. Chukwanta is a Professional Engineer, who holds a master’s degree from the Imperial College London UK. He also was appointed a member of the Canada’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council and a Canadian delegate to the United Nationals and G20. Christopher also has been an advocate for clean energy and sustainable development by serving as a United Nations Affiliated Technical Reviewer, joint curator of the sustainable urbanization adopted by the 56 Commonwealth Heads of Government. Christopher’s presentation informed us all of the urgency of addressing climate change, as it is responsible for an increase of AID/HIV, conflict and migration that happens when there is no longer lakes and soil for food.
This presentation preceded GANG’s Fashion for Climate Action event, and provided an opportunity to consider the impact of climate change on African communities as well as closer to home.
